Case Win: Unpaid Final Wages Recovered After More Than a Year

TPAQ case win: never paid for the last 12 days, about $4,500 recovered

Our member resigned and was never paid for the last 12 days they worked.

They brought it to TPAA. Their case manager wrote to the employer, then followed up again and again over the months that followed. When the employer's contact went on parental leave, the case manager found someone else there and put the case again.

The employer agreed to pay the 12 days, about $4,500 before tax. They are also recalculating our member's annual leave payout, which may add more.

From our member first raising it, to the money being agreed took more than a year.

In Queensland you generally have six years from the date you were underpaid to take recovery action. That applies under the Fair Work Act and under Queensland's Limitation of Actions Act 1974. A year is well inside it.
