EB11
We're Fighting for Teachers to Get a 31% Pay Rise!

There’s plenty of noise about EB11 - but the TPAQ is busy taking action.
We've sent our historic Log of Claims to the Education Minister and the Deputy Premier.
We're fighting for the things you've told us you care about.
On your behalf, we'll be meeting with the Director-General and the Minister to prosecute our proposed 31% pay rise and historic salary packaging.
We hold the conviction that anything less than a 31% pay rise for teachers isn't just insulting, but existential to the profession in Queensland. Any organisation, union or politician that would have you believe otherwise is selling you out.

QUICK FACTS ABOUT EB11
✅ Every single employee has the right to vote on this agreement.
✅ Every single employee will be covered by this agreement, regardless of which union they’re a member of. Same pay rise, same conditions, same allowances.
✅ The electoral commission runs the ballot, NOT the QTU.
✅ You don’t have to participate in strike action if you don’t want to.
✅ If your workload increases unreasonably due to industrial action, you can exercise your right to take stress leave and have time off.
The QTU Has Failed You.
While we fight for transformational pay rises and meaningful reform, the Queensland Teachers Union (QTU) is busy making noise. You'll no doubt have heard chatter about striking and other industrial action. It is simply all for show!
The QTU are working overtime to distract you from the fact that they are the ones that have negotiated appalling agreements in the past.
That's right. Over the past four agreements the QTU has negotiated, your pay has barely kept up with inflation. So much for solidarity!
Not to mention that the QTU ties their membership fees to your pay, so the more you earn, the more they take! Given the rise in their fees over the past decade, there's no wonder why so many teachers are battling to put food on the table.
This is all at the same time that your fuel and grocery prices have skyrocketed, along with unprecedented rental and mortgage payments. With the cost of living crisis, and the QTU's weakness, your real wages have gone backwards.
There is a Better Way
Don't fall for the tricks or the lies - you are better off with the TPAQ!
Not only will you be completely covered by the certified agreement, regardless of union membership, but you'll save hundreds of dollars every single year and be part of a movement which is advocating for real pay rises and systemic reform!

By decentralising schooling, teachers will be paid more, students get better results, and parents will have a genuine say in how their child is educated. The answer to the education crisis is Go Local!
FAQS:
Q1. What happened in previous EBs for us to be so underpaid and overworked?
The QTU negotiated the last four agreements, which have been nothing short of appalling. Over the past 13 years, there’s been just a 39.9% increase in Queensland teachers’ pay. In that same period, inflation has risen by 39%. Pay rises over the past decade have barely kept up with inflation. That hasn’t stopped the QTU from hiking their fees though. As a matter of fact, the QTU ties their membership fees to your pay, so the more you earn, the more they take! They’ve done this at the same time that your power bills, your grocery bills, and your medical bills have skyrocketed. Your insurance premiums are up, and so is the cost of fuel. Not to mention out of control rental prices and mortgage repayments. The QTU delivered you real wage cuts across EB7, EB8, EB9, and EB10 - would you really trust them with EB11?
Q2. Is TPAQ currently involved in these negotiations?
Yes. We have been in discussion with the government and have submitted our Log of Claims, along with a request to meet the Minister and the Director-General to fight for a 31% pay rise and industry-leading salary packaging. We won't settle for anything less than 31%. We do not have a "seat at the bargaining table" as it's known, but we are campaigning for greater change to the education system and will fight to get our Log of Claims implemented. We will continue to demand the government and the QTU break up their entrenched mediocrity which has left your real wages going backwards. We have a vision for what education should look like!
Q3. Are you a trade registered union who hold legal capacity to negotiate EBs?
The TPAA is a registered industrial association under the Fair Work Act, which means we can bargain in all Fair Work jurisdictions without issue. Due to corrupt laws passed by the previous Labor Government, at the behest of their trade unions, we are unable to register as a trade union in QLD. It's important to note that the public sector in QLD is one of the only jurisdictions across the country that this is the case. We are lobbying the current government to allow for competitive unionism, which will be better for educators across the state. The government promised us when in opposition that the laws would change - this is what we're seeking now. You can help by emailing the emails below and voicing your support for a change to allow the TPAA to be a registered union in Queensland:

Q4. To what level are the TPAQ and QTU working together to get the best deal for teachers in Queensland?
We are always willing to meet and work with the QTU. However, they want us shut down. They are fundamentally against our existence and have helped put together legislation which seeks to reinforce their monopoly. Of course, they fund the Labor Party through the Queensland Council of Unions and give millions of teachers' money in campaign support. You may have seen some of their many political campaigns on behalf of the Labor Party: decriminalising prostitution, supporting the voice to parliament, pushing transgenderism in schools, etc.
Q5. What happens if the QTU takes strike action? Do we stay at school and carry the burden pursuant to the absence of the QTU teaching membership?
It is important to note that if the QTU does hold a strike, non-members aren't protected under it. However, if you feel your workload increases unreasonably, we encourage you to take stress leave. This is absolutely your right! You don't have to put up with burnout because others are taking protected action. Though the strike action may seem in good faith, a deeper look shows it's pretty sinister. Under the past 4 agreements that the QTU have negotiated, your pay has only just kept up with inflation. So when you take into consideration skyrocketing housing, fuel, grocery and power costs, your real wage has gone backwards. Striking and other industrial action is generally just a charade to distract teachers from the QTU's failing.
